DEVLOG WEEK #3
This week, the task was implementing a new mechanic. In doing so, our avian friend learned to use her voice! On top of that, we worked on polishing the feel of our game.
New mechanic
- New menu, controlled by the arrow-keys
- this allows for 4 options, 3 of which have a mechanic in game.
- Whistle to show the Path (right arrow-key)
- Whistle to activate nearby Updrafts (down arrow-key)
- Whistle to reveal nearby Hidden Paths (left arrow-key)
Other changes
- Made coyote-time true coyote-time, by limiting the window to a small timeframe
- Forced descent works more properly now.
- It can also be used to force through Updrafts
- It can now also be interrupted by the jump-key
- Visual overhaul to release more feathers at the start of a forced descent.
- Updrafts were changed
- Landing in an updraft resets updraft strength against decay.
- Landing in an updraft resets updraft strength against decay.
- Updrafts visually overhauled to make them more obvious
- They now also have an 'inactive'-state, where the particles are more calm, in comparison to the 'active'-state initiated by the new Whistling-mechanic.
- Zoom-in/-out areas added, in case the player needs a better visual of their surroundings.
- Camera follows the player ahead further down when falling, to aid the player in seeing where they’ll land
- Checkpoints were added, with a new visual animation.

This week, we worked on level design., and integrated the feedback from last week's playtests.

What changes did I make to the template?
- Coyote Jump
- Jump-over
- Fixed wall-jumping
- Speed is slower, Jump is lower, Fall is slower
- Added self-made Player Character sprites and particles.
- New sounds (jumping, flapping wings, ouchies)
- Stretch & Squish when jumping

Known bugs
- Coyotetime lasts infinitely
- Some enemies do not die.
- Sometimes, the landing animation is slightly late
